Program FAQ
✏️ What age groups do you serve?
We welcome children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, grouped into developmentally appropriate classrooms from Infants through Pre-K4.
✏️What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Instructional hours are 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with extended care offered before and after school.
✏️ Do you follow a school-year calendar?
Harvest Point Academy operates on a year-round calendar. While our core instructional year runs from August through May, we offer a vibrant Summer Enrichment Program during June and July. Summer attendance is strongly encouraged for currently enrolled preschool students, as we continue faith-based learning through themed, hands-on activities that nurture creativity, social development, and academic retention. We also welcome school-age children through 5th grade to enroll in our summer camp, making it a joyful time for siblings and community families to join in the fun.
Family Communication
✏️ How do you communicate with families?
We use two trusted platforms to keep families informed and connected:
-
📱 Brightwheel – Our main app for daily updates, messages, check-in/out alerts, activity tracking, and developmental milestones. You’ll receive photos, learning notes, and announcements all in one place.
-
📷 Watch Me Grow – A secure, livestream video platform that allows you to check in on your child in real time from anywhere. Parents love the added transparency and peace of mind.
✏️ Can parents visit or volunteer?
Yes! We are an open campus. We welcome family involvement during chapel, special events, and classroom celebrations. Visitors must follow safety and check-in procedures.
Health & Behavior
✏️ What is your discipline philosophy?
We use positive guidance strategies grounded in both early childhood best practices and biblical values. Our goal is to help children develop self-regulation, empathy, and healthy conflict resolution. We use a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) approach that is rooted in grace, consistency, and clear expectations. Our goal is not just to correct behavior, but to help children understand their emotions, make good choices, and grow in Christ-like character.
We follow a tiered framework to support each child’s unique needs:
-
Tier 1 – Whole-Class Strategies:
All students benefit from proactive routines, visual schedules, social-emotional lessons (Seeds of Grace), and positive reinforcement. -
Tier 2 – Targeted Supports:
For children who need more guidance, we provide additional modeling, small group skill-building, and behavior coaching in specific situations. -
Tier 3 – Individualized Interventions:
A small number of students may need personalized behavior plans, increased collaboration with families, and closer monitoring to help them thrive.
Our team works closely with families, using restorative conversations, relationship-building, and developmentally appropriate tools to ensure every child feels safe, loved, and supported.
✏️ How do you support social-emotional learning?
We incorporate faith-based SEL strategies like grace-based redirection, emotional vocabulary, and daily practice in kindness, respect, and service. Our teachers model Christ-like behavior and help children process big emotions.
✏️ What health and safety procedures do you follow?
We follow all state safety protocols, including daily cleaning, secure entry procedures, emergency preparedness plans, and staff training in CPR/first aid. Allergy management and illness policies are reviewed during enrollment.
Meals & Daily Routines
✏️ Are meals and snacks provided?
Yes! We provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily as part of your child’s experience at Harvest Point Academy. Our meals are served in a safe, family-style setting to promote independence and social skills. Parents are also welcome to send their own meals or snacks if they have specific preferences or dietary needs. We ask that all food items be peanut-free to ensure the safety of all children.
✏️ Does my child need to be potty trained?
No. We support each child’s potty training journey with patience and encouragement, partnering with families to maintain consistency.
✏️ What does a typical day look like?
A child’s day includes worship and Bible time, circle time, structured learning centers, outdoor play, lunch, rest/nap time, and afternoon enrichment activities like art or music.
Faith & Curriculum
✏️ Do you offer a faith-based education?
Yes! Our Christ-centered approach is the foundation of all we do. Every day includes Bible stories, scripture memory, worship music, prayer, and meaningful conversations about God’s love and truth. Faith is gently and consistently integrated into all subjects and routines.
✏️ What curriculum do you use?
At Harvest Point Academy, our approach combines faith-based formation with research-backed instruction and state-aligned standards. We use:
-
Thrive Curriculum – A biblically grounded, vertically aligned early childhood curriculum that nurtures spiritual growth alongside academic development
-
Seeds of Grace – Our in-house social-emotional learning program built on Christian principles and aligned with the CASEL framework, teaching self-regulation, empathy, and relationship-building
-
Children’s Learning Institute (CLI) Resources – We utilize CLI’s evidence-based tools and progress monitoring to support early literacy, numeracy, and language development
-
Science of Reading – Our literacy instruction is structured, explicit, and rooted in research on how young children learn to read
-
Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines – We align with state expectations in all academic domains to ensure children are kindergarten-ready
This curriculum blend allows us to meet children’s developmental needs while nurturing their relationship with God and helping them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
✏️ How is faith integrated into learning?
Faith is not a separate subject — it’s woven into everything we do. Whether we’re counting, reading, exploring science, or playing, children are reminded of God’s presence and love. Spiritual truths are reinforced through Bible-based units, worship, character education, and conversations about real-life choices guided by scripture.
