💛 Seeds of Grace: Social-Emotional Learning Framework

At Harvest Point Academy, we nurture not just growing minds—but growing hearts. The Seeds of Grace SEL Curriculum is our signature approach to helping children develop the emotional, relational, and spiritual skills they need to thrive as image-bearers of Christ.

Built on biblical truth and aligned with the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) framework, this curriculum is woven into daily instruction across all age groups, from toddlers to Pre-K4.

🌱 Our Five SEL & Faith Integration Pillars

Each area of CASEL’s SEL competencies is connected to a Christ-centered foundation:

CASEL Competency Seeds of Grace Focus
Self-Awareness “I am God’s child.” Children identify emotions, name feelings, and understand their identity in Christ.
Self-Management “I can make wise choices.” Through prayer, calm-down tools, and grace-filled discipline, children learn to manage impulses and practice patience.
Social Awareness “God made us all different—and that’s good!” Children practice empathy, inclusion, and celebrating others’ strengths.
Relationship Skills “Love one another.” Children learn peacemaking, forgiveness, kindness, and how to build God-honoring friendships.
Responsible Decision-Making “What would Jesus do?” Children are taught to pause, pray, and reflect before making choices, with a focus on grace, fairness, and obedience.

      🧸 How It’s Taught

      • Daily Language and Visuals
We use SEL vocabulary, visual feelings charts, and grace-based scripts throughout the day. Teachers narrate emotions and model problem-solving out loud.
      • Grace Space (Calm Corner)
Every classroom includes a “Grace Space,” a cozy, safe area for children to self-regulate, breathe, and reflect when big feelings arise.
      • Storytelling & Bible Connections
Lessons include weekly Bible stories tied to social-emotional goals (e.g., “Joseph Shows Forgiveness” during a unit on compassion).
      • Songs, Role Play, & Prayer
Children sing worship songs about God’s love, participate in role-play scenarios, and practice simple breath prayers to calm down.

      📅 Monthly Virtue Themes (Examples)

Month Theme Key Verse & Focus
August Kindness “Be kind to one another…” – Ephesians 4:32
      September Patience “Love is patient…” – 1 Corinthians 13:4
October Respect “Honor one another…” – Romans 12:10
November Gratitude “Give thanks in all circumstances…” – 1 Thess. 5:18
December Joy “The joy of the Lord is your strength.” – Nehemiah 8:10
(Rotates by year and age level)

      🧠 Whole-Child Growth Outcomes

By consistently practicing these skills in a nurturing, Christ-centered setting, children learn to:

      • Name and manage their feelings in godly ways
      • Build friendships based on love, trust, and respect
      • Grow in empathy, courage, honesty, and compassion
      • Apply scripture to everyday choices
      • Become peacemakers in their classrooms and beyond!
